Dante de Blasio

Dante de Blasio

Wow, the hair! An afro in politics. With articles by Washington Post tittled: ‘With the de Blasios, ‘locks on the national stage’’, and the New York Time naming Dante de Blasio on ‘most influential teens’ list, it is clear that The famously photogenic only son of Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio Dante de Blasio, son of the next mayor of New York, has made a statement with his hair. The publication singled out the younger de Blasio, 16, as the “city’s latest fashion icon” and noted that his “now-iconic Afro” was even lauded by President Barack Obama who previously admitted: “Dante has the same hairdo as I had in 1978. Can I touch your Hair? How often did you get that question?

In this Video, actress Aasha Davis, best known for her roles as Waverly Grady on Friday Night Lights and Chelsea Lewis on South of Nowhere is also producing and starring in a web series featured on YouTube called The Unwritten Rules, which is based on series creator Kim Williams’s book 40 Hours and an Unwritten Rule: The Diary of an African-American Woman.

About this Video ‘Let’s Talk About Hair’ she says: I’ve often been put in situations where I have to explain my hair for sake of being polite to co-workers. This video was basically my life for two years. But by way of being put in those situations, I’ve actually discovered that I really like talking about my hair. It’s something that’s beautiful and something that I’m proud of, and I like sharing it with other people, hence un-ruly.com.

White Women with Black Hair

Photographer Endia Beal has work on quite a special photo shoot this summer. White middle aged conservative looking women, but with a twist. They all got a hair make overs. Even Christina Aguilera once rocked an afro. And most recently Dolly Parton was rapping at Queen Latifah with a blond afro..

Solange Fan

People that have visited this site/blog before already know. It is no secret that I am a big Solange Knowles fan. Her album True, brings a smile to my face, and seeing her live at Bitterzoet in Amsterdam, was one of those concerts beyond a pleasant surprise. Remembering her open for Destiny’s Child at the Ahoy stadium years ago, and seeing how she has developed in such a role model working mom. Love it! And had to share it with ya’ll.
